Video: Wooden Shjips – “Back To Land”

WoodenShjipsBacktoLand440
On Sunday night, Wooden Shjips made their way through Toronto and proved once again how they’re one of the best live psych acts on the scene today. Running through material off their excellent new album, Back To Land, the group kicked into their dark-shrouded fuzz onslaught from the outset. Perhaps inspired by their frontman’s recent move to Colorado, the Shjips new material is brighter and more organic even allowing Ripley’s vocals to poke out from the haze for a few revealing moments. With video-feedback projections offered by Moon Duo’s Sanae Yamada, the venue achieved near liftoff—the crowd seemed to almost lose their sense of gravity—as the Shjips blasted through well over an hour of palpitating, bone-rattling psych.

Check our the full list of tour dates along with the video for their new album’s title track below.

Video: Moon Duo ~ “Sleepwalker”

San Francisco psych-rockers Moon Duo are releasing their new album, Circles next month. While you likely heard the album’s bong-ripper “Sleepwalker” featured on our August Mix, the song now has a video starring Montreal garage rock guru King Khan. Watch Khan lead an aerobics class while the members of Moon Duo watch over from the back of the room in the video below.

Video: Psychic Ills ~ “Take Me With You”

Brooklyn space voyagers Psychic Ills team up with San Francisco’s similarly mind-expanding Moon Duo on a new 7-inch split, out now on Sacred Bone. The split is available as a Limited Edition pressing, and features two tracks, Moon Duo’s “Zoned” and Psychic Ills’ “Take Me With You.”

“Take Me With You” finds Psychic Ills locked into a deep repetitive choogle with a more straight ahead approach. Check out the video or audio stream below.
