For their latest offering, the good folks at Singles Club—Brooklyn’s quarterly subscription-based record club and digital music journal—present a brand new track from our brothers in Woodsman. Recorded live to tape, “Further” captures the feel of Woodsman’s extended on-stage explorations and demonstrates the band’s adept ability at layering spacey, transcendent instrumental kosmische. Along with the music, Singles Club have also assembled a stunning digital journal that offers insight into how the song was forged and the band’s creation process. Woodsman ∆ Teleseparation EP

11183_JKT

After putting out their highly impressive eponymous LP earlier this year, Brooklyn-via-Denver’s neo-kraut troop Woodsman return with a new EP this fall that offers a glimpse into their improvisational studio recording process. Acting as a companion piece to the full-length record, the EP features a raw, extended version of the album’s final cut, “Teleseparation,” in the form of a 30 minute jam cut into in 4 parts with no overdubs. A transcendent, stream-of-consciousness sonic journey, bathed in repetitive guitar atmospheres and totemic rhythmic interplay. Zone out to the Teleseparation EP below.

NEW MUSIC: Tjutjuna

We first came across the name Tjutjuna when they released their split tour cassette with Woodsman in the spring of 2011. But for unexplainable reasons, the challenging name slipped our minds and may have fallen into the abyss were it not for the keen ears of DGB contributor Johanna Andersson and our good pal Marc “Mike” Norman “Newman.” The group charts a similar neo-kraut course as labelmates Woodsman, with droning, transportive sound odysseys, totemic drum circles and shimmering guitars. Earlier this week, they released their new cassingle, “Desert Song” b/w “Schulze and Shaffner” on Fire Talk and you can now hear/download both tracks below. Also be sure to check out Tjutjuna’s recent Beyond Beyond is Beyond session on East Village Radio.
